A rotunda entry topped with stained glass greets the visitor, and a couple of Prohibition-era bars behind bookcases with secret passageways to transport liquor make for great cocktail conversation. A much-needed restoration, including original ironwork, ceramic kitchen ceiling, and woodwork, was undertaken by actor David Hyde Pierce and his partner starting in 2004.
When our clients bought the house they asked us to design contemporary interiors to serve as a backdrop for their blue chip art collection. This may well be BDG’s only project that didn’t require major remodeling. Juxtaposing virtuous antiques with rakish art, we pushed the interior design to the edge, without falling off.
